This series introduces works by young scholars (Ph.D. students and Ph.D. holders) who have attended the Advanced Specialization Course sponsored by the "F. Datini" International Institute of Economic History. The scope of the course is to provide methodological and critical instruments with the objective to outline and write a paper on a case study based on previously unpublished archive sources. Each year the topic is connected to that discussed during the Study Week.
For admission, the young scholars must submit a research project containing indications on proposed economic history topics, the area and specified historical period as well as the type of sources used to the specific committee. Acceptance of the proposal is the essential criterion for admission.
The Course includes 24 hours of lectures, with heuristic and methodology content, and 24 hours of seminars, during which individual research proposals shall be analysed and discussed. The Course shall be held by two specialists on the chosen subject.
Within six months from course completion, participants are required to send their paper to the Foundation.

Scientific Criteria for certification
The papers shall then be submitted to two anonymous referees; publication is subject to approval of the referees.
