New editorial policy of the Foundation

It is with great pleasure that I inform you of the changes to our editorial policy that we will adopt for our scientific products, and which we shall implement by joining the programme of our publishing house: Firenze University Press Scientific Cloud.

With this, we seek to simplify the access of the scientific community to our publications which, whilst still undergoing a rigorous scientific evaluation, will benefit from greater diffusion and impact.

First of all, starting in 2020, we will move to open access editions under the principles inspired by the best international practices defined by Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) e World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

We also envisage the gradual introduction of previous editions.
We will continue to publish the printed version of the books.

Each volume will be identified with the ISSN code (International Standard Serial Number) and individual essays with the DOI (Digital Object Identifier), a standard that allows the identification of scientific products within a digital network, as well as the association of the relative metadata according to a structured and extensible scheme. Our works will enjoy a stronger impact through the incorporation and dissemination of metadata, as well as via the indexing of volumes and individual contributions on major international aggregators according to a constantly expanding programme (www.fupress.com, Digital Casalini, Simplicissimus, GoogleBook, OAPEN, Project MUSE, JSTOR, DOAB, BASE, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine, Crossref, OneSearch SBART, Worldcat, Primo Cantral, Google Scholar, ProQuest Seriel Solutions, EBSCO Discovery Service, Common Library Network in German (GBV), Knowlwdge Base, BiblioLabs, CLOCKKS, Zenodo, FLORE, Magazzini digitali).

To achieve this goal, the authors and various scientific bodies must work together during the peer review process, operating in the web environment of the FUP.
